Re: Melbourne maps/locations

Sorry Sue, we do what our funding lets us do. But please tell us about your hay fever outside of the grass pollen season by downloading our free app and completing the symptom survey.

Re: Melbourne maps/locations

Hi Graday, Answers to some of your questions are in the Inspector-General for Emergency Management's preliminary report, which you can download here http://www.igem.vic.gov.au/home/reports+and+publications/reports/review+of+response+to+the+thunderstorm+asthma+event+of++november+2016+preliminary+repo...

Re: What type of Grass do you use for your testing?

Hi Harrison, thanks for the question. Our numbers report the concentration of grass pollen in the air for the previous 24 hours to 3:30 pm when we take our reading. So a figure of 2 grass pollen grains per cubic metre means that, on average over the past 24 hours, a cubic metre of Melbourne's air wo...

Re: New years eve..pollen count low but asthma

You are not alone. I had to start taking my prescription antihistamines again due to the asthma. Ed I am in Melbourne Looking at your past posts Bookishfred it seems you asthma isn't triggered by grass pollen so our counts, which are of grass pollen, may not be helping you manage your condition. Ho...

Re: Wrong forcast

My apologies for the forecast Fran. Forecasting at this time of year with the grasses drying off is problematic, as the season should be finishing soon although it appears to be hanging on in a very determined manner. Hopefully next season we'll have better tools to help us with forecasting. Thanks ...

Re: How does the pollan count works?

Hi Sara, thanks for the message. We basically are forecasting levels of grass pollen in Melbourne's air. One possibility is that you aren't allergic to grass pollen which means our forecasts aren't useful to you. However you can still use the app to track your symptoms. The graph showing days when y...

Thanks for sharing how you handle your hay fever zielwolf. Maybe ask your GP or chemist what they'd recommend.

Re: Suburbs and pollen

I'd agree with kalaru on this one. Because Melbourne's grass pollen is brought into the city on the wind, I think you're unlikely to find a suburb where your hay fever is so much better that it's worth the expense and stress of moving.

Re: Best honey for northly winds?

Unfortunately there is grass pretty much anywhere you go so I'm not sure moving will solve your problem. Tough day today I know but there's rain http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDR023.loop.shtml#skip on its way which should provide some relief.
